Probation Drug Test Procedure
Probation drug tests are typically screens. These are much cheaper and the individual in question has given up rights that ordinary citizens have. Confirmation via GC/MS isn’t performed and failing the screen won’t necessitate confirmation either. Fail the screen and your P.O. makes the decision to return you to jail, make a recommendation to the judge or require additional counseling.
The testing procedure is the same as the employee drug test procedure in many other respects. You will be required to provide photo I.D., wash your hands before voiding, and sign the final paperwork. You do surrender your right to privacy and you are typically observed while urinating. This is to ensure that no substitution is possible and that no contaminates or detoxifying agents are added to the sample. The technician collecting the sample is well versed in all the methods used to beat drug screens. They certainly will be on the lookout for anything that looks remotely suspicious.
After filling the sample container you will be asked to wash your hands while the technician checks prepares the test kit. Sometimes a test strip is used to check for creatinine levels but this isn’t a requirement. The technician adds the collected urine to the test panel and you are required to wait a few minutes while the test is performed. You are informed of your pass/fail status and asked to sign the final paperwork.
If you fail the screen the technician notes it on your paperwork and gives the information to your probation officer. A false positive will result in a failed drug screen and typically, a GC/MS won’t be used to confirm the results, you simply fail. If you are on probation the best advice we can give is to abstain from all drug use.
The obvious, clear choice is to abstain and do not attempt to pass your next drug test by any other means. Trying to tamper with a lawfully administered drug test is a criminal offense, and may violate both state and/or federal law.
Do not attempt to foil any lawfully administered drug test or you will go to jail.
